MOVIESinMO REVIEW

If you’re new to the whole spy movie scene, you will immediately love this movie. There’s lots of spy stuff and a lot of fighting. You also get the standard amount of backstabbing. All this and more for the action spy fan. There’s just one big problem. It’s all been done before, and in most cases, better. In Anna, if you take away the action, the story is weak, and all the characters had the worst personalities I’ve ever had to experience. The only reason to watch this movie is for the well-choreographed fight scenes. That doesn’t mean Anna is a bad movie, it’s just not worth the ticket price. Anna is a spy with a history that starts like The Black Widow working for Mission Impossible and slowly turns into The Bourne Identity. There are a lot more movies I could reference but why. For ninety-minutes, I saw bits and pieces of every great spy/action movie over the last twenty years. Once again, that’s not a bad thing, but it is lazy writing. Anna had so much potential as the next female Jason Bourne, but sadly, without any likable or memorable characteristics, Anna was over before it started. If you’re a twentysomething, you will no doubt love this movie because of the action sequences. But anyone that seen more than ten action films will understand how upsetting Anna is because of what it should have been. Unfortunately, Anna is a movie made out of other movies filled with action from a character nobody cares about with nothing new to add to the genre. If the producers want to stay consistent, they could make a sequel with the parts of movies they left out of this one. I’m sure this film will make lots of money when the video is available. That way people can just watch the fight scenes the same way they do on other films with great scenes in them like the beginning of Saving Private Ryan or the lobby scene in The Matrix.
